This week we are wrapping up our 2020Vision series by lowering the sights of our changed lives mission on a specific focal point. Like President Kennedy aiming the country on a moonshot, we need to pull together and believe God for one wildly important goal.  In biblical terms we call that kind of aim a firstfruits focus.  Israel brought to God the first cut of their harvest, it was a small portion of a larger harvest they were trusting God to provide.  We can learn from the Bible’s many references to firstfruits a principle about putting our focus on something specific to dedicate and trust God for, which will be a smaller sample or a representation of something more to come.  I am truly excited to unveil this Sunday our moonshot, our wildly important goal, our firstfruit focus!

We are continuing to unpack the divine direction we have for taking TPCC forward.  Last week we adopted our life change mission and identified a pathway for leading people toward change: get them planted, rooted, built-up, and reproducing.  This week we take another step toward clarifying how that gets done.  We are going to turn our attention on the “why” behind the “what.”  We’re going to introduce some of the values and motivations behind what we do.  I’m excited to rally our church around a common heartbeat, to outline some of the biblical convictions that drive our passion for change.  We want these motivations to really settle in to our collective soul.

This Sunday we will pivot from our personal pursuit of vision, to begin unpacking what God is revealing to us as church.  As a leadership team, we began seeking clarity from God about His direction for our body about 7 months ago.  We know that our calling is to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), but how we do that is a distinctive that comes per Christ’s direction.  This week we will start to see that God has a unique plan for our church, just like He has for each of our lives.

During this study, we are looking to encourage everyone in our body to open their heart to the Lord and experience some divine direction for their life.  In week two we are going to discover some tools to help us in visioneering – taking what God shows us and crafting the vision toward reality.  We’ll study a prophet’s vision process revealed in Habakkuk 2:1-3.  There are some important actions to learn about writing and walking out a vision.

In our first message in the series, we are going to highlight the gift of clarity.  What an incredible and valuable gift from God that we can be clearer about what’s going on in our life.  This week we will look at Acts 10 which is great moment in salvation history and it features two revelations of vision for two people on an intersecting path.   As we track their vision quest, clarity bombs drop and those become so helpful as we seek to have better perspective on the personal revelations we will receive from the Lord.  And we’ll land on two points designed to help us gain clarity as we move toward receiving vision for our own lives in the coming weeks.

20/20 Vision

As we step into a new year and a new decade, we also step into a great season to talk about 'vision.'  During this series we take a few weeks to talk about some important qualifications for receiving divine directions for our lives and for our church.
